Teacher Benefits
Teachers benefit in many ways from
membership in our organization. Our branch meets at least nine
times a year, usually on the third Tuesday morning of the month, with
business meetings in September, November, January, March, and May with
casual meetings in October, February, and April. A few
meetings (two co-sponsored with CAPMT)
highlight specific topics for
discussion or feature a music education DVD (e.g., on Madame Rosina
Lhevinne, renowned piano teacher). In addition, we offer
outstanding speakers two or more times a year and a master teacher one
or two times a year.
The yearly State Convention
is held
during the weekend closest to the Fourth of July, alternating each year
between Northern and Southern California locations. Over a
thousand members gather for five days of lectures, master classes,
officer workshops, student and artist recitals, and showcases for new
materials. It is a fabulous learning experience for all who
attend.
Our branch performance group meets once a month, usually the Tuesday
after the regular meeting. We love having an audience of our
peers!
Some members also perform in the Teachers Performance Recital at the
annual State Convention and/or participate in the Adult Performance
Program.
